Ever since the announcement of the latest VALORANT Agent, Neon, and the most recent League of Legends champion, Zeri, fans have noticed their undeniable similarities.
Both characters have very similar kits focused around electricity and speed and they are both voiced by the same voice actress, Vanille Velasquez.
Today, fan questions have been answered by Riot through the following tweet and article posted to the @PlayVALORANT Twitter account.
Neon and @LeagueOfLegends Zeri seem oddly similar, huh? Hear from designers from two different teams, @rycoux and @RiotAugust, to learn how they came together to create an Agent and Champion in tandem. https://t.co/Eq7AcfNgrw pic.twitter.com/lvZDcK0kqs

It was revealed through the video and article that “they’re not the same characters, no they’re not related, but they were made in tandem by the League and VALORANT teams”.
The two teams worked together to create a theme of “opposite charges” for the two new Riot characters. This theme is highlighted through Neon’s negative charge bandage contrasting with the positive charge bandage worn by Zeri.
Ultimately, through the collaborative effort by Riot’s development teams on Zeri and Neon, they proved that lightning can strike twice.
