Riot have today confirmed that they’ll be closing League of Legends, just because 2020 isn’t miserable enough.
CEO, Nicolo Laurent, took to Twitter to confirm the news, after what they described 2020 as, “a year where there’s been so much misery, we figure a little more won’t hurt.”
Despite League of Legends continuing to grow in popularity, as arguably the biggest ESport on the planet, Nicolo was keen to stress this might only be a temporary measure.
“It all depends on how the rest of 2020 goes. At this rate, the planet will probably explode, so we figure we’ll keep the door open, but we’ll cut our losses now. We could all do with a lye down in a darkened room.”
We’ve contacted Riot again, to establish if the plan is still going ahead.
